Whee!! Today truly was an escapade! Wyoming is fun to drive through!! Well, not really. We had super wind!! Worse than the winds we had in Iowa! Warnings on the highway said to expect 50 + miles an hour wind. Those kinds of winds are hard to drive through. At a few points we were driving through these mini little blizzards, at least that is what we called them. Hail was flying low and blowing sideways!! We could see up ahead white clouds all way to ground like rain clouds. It was weird because before you knew they would be gone.
We pulled over so we could take video!!
Oh, and guess what driving in high head winds does to your gas mileage!! You guessed it!! Doesn't help it at all. We got pretty low and gas stations are few and far between!! We are lucky we didn't run out of gas!
The fuel light means you are going on fumes!!
Oh, and the escapade didn't stop there. When we got to our hotel in Salt Lake City, they didn't have our reservation. I had the printout, and the reservation desk of the hotel chain confirmed the reservation, but it didn't show up in the local hotel computer!! And they said they didn't have an available wheelchair accessible room. Well, that's nice!!
The poor hotel clerk. He was so baffled. How could we have a print out that said we had a reservation but it not be in their system? And on top of that, other patrons were coming in while he was trying to help us and he had a line backed up!! Anyway, it eventually worked out. He made us another reservation at a nearby hotel, but still felt that a room should be available at his hotel. And didn't want us to leave. He ended up calling his manager. I don't fully understand what happened but it had something to do with ADA regulations and room types or something. He found the room and the best part, we got $10 off, a night for our room!! Thank you Holiday Inn.
We were able to meet up with David and John and their family's for a little while tonight at our hotel lobby. It was fun to see everyone.

It looks like you were driving on a one lane highway.
And now I have the song in my head.
