Day Thirty-Two: Salt Lake City

We are taking a break from driving today and tomorrow.  So, today we met up with David and John's families.  First we went downtown to visit the Clark Planetarium.  We had fun looking at the exhibits.

Leah got to walk on the moon.

 And Spencer was just hanging out on Mars.

This Rube Goldberg device was the biggest one I have ever seen.  It was huge!!  Andrew and I were both fascinated watching the balls drop and go through loops and ring bells, etc. There was even a part of it, with these big balls, that went outside of the machine itself and on tracks on the ceiling. 

They had this cool cloud machine.  Andrew had his head in the clouds!!

When we finished looking at the exhibits we headed over to This Is The Place Heritage Park.  This is a living history experience.  An opportunity to learn about life in the early days of Salt Lake City.  It was baby animal time.  And who doesn't love baby animals??  The animals were a big hit with the grandkids!!

There were ponies rides, which Aiden and Leah loved!

And little baby chicks to hold.  

And ducklings.

Spencer liked the goats. 

I thought the little lambs were adorable.  

And so did Leah.

I took a picture of this potbelly pig just for Katie Rose!!  

And these were the furriest cows I have ever seen. 

 There was an old one room school house.  

John looks more like a hoodlum than a dunce.  

On each desk they had tablets!!

There was a log cabin, that had a fun back yard with laundry to do and fields to plow.  

A family with ten children slept in this cabin.  The loft to sleep in, was only reached by this ladder on the outside.  

Aiden enjoyed plowing the fields. 

Can you tell, Aiden was enjoying a lollipop??

It was fun to visit the historic village and made me grateful for our modern conveniences.  

Tomorrow morning we are going attend the broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word.
