Phew, today was a long one. Eight hours plus driving time and 468.7 miles. We started in Iowa, then went through, Indiana, Illinois and crossed the Mississippi River into Davenport, Iowa, where we are spending the night. Oh, and we found one of the hours we lost back when we were headed East! It was so nice to have it back!!
We stayed on the Interstate most of the day. It was super, super windy. So, windy you had to hold tight to the steering wheel. We past one semi that was on it's side. And another time saw a diesel truck that was pulling three trailers fish tale back and forth! Fortunately he didn't lose control. But, it was scary!!
When we got to Illinois the wind died down a little so that helped. Throughout the day we played our "Words of Dooooom" game. David picked the words for us today, "I", "the" and "a". We really struggled especially poor Evan. For most of the day we spoke using really bad grammar!! In the end, Cindy won!! Tomorrow, Katie is picking out the words for us!!
The one fun thing we did was stop in South Bend Indiana and toured the South Bend Chocolate Company factory.
They had a chocolate museum, we learned about the history of chocolate and how they make chocolate.
And wow, look at the size of that chocolate bunny and Santa!!
Too bad I couldn't help out!! We did get a sample though and it was yummy!!
Tomorrow we are headed to Omaha Nebraska to visit Winter Quarters. And then on to Sioux City!
